Francesca Santamaria is an Italian artist based in Rome, active in the field of performing arts. Her research focuses on performative logics and their implications through an analysis of the moving body and its limits.
Her authorial journey began in 2021 with SHIFTING TOOLS, a dance film presented and awarded at numerous international festivals.
In 2022 she joined the three-year choreographic research programme Incubator for Future Choreographers CIMD (Milan), while simultaneously earning an MA in “Writing and Production for Performing Arts and Media” at Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis on Dance Dramaturgy and she participated in various projects with the ASAC Department of the Venice Biennale from 2021 to 2023.
In 2024, her first solo COME SOPRAVVIVERE IN CASO DI DANNI PERMANENTI was co-produced by Operaestate Festival and presented at B.Motion 2024.
Within the Milan-based hub, she developed the large-scale project GOOD VIBES ONLY.
The first chapter, GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test), was co-produced by the festivals MILANoLTRE, Più che Danza, and FDE Festival Danza Estate. The creation was selected for Danza Urbana XL 2025 – Network Anticorpi XL and for the European platform Aerowaves #Twenty26.
GOOD VIBES ONLY (the great effort), the second chapter, was produced by CODEDUOMO ETS and Perypezye Urbane ETS, co-produced by Romaeuropa Festival, realized in collaboration with TIR Danza, and premiered at Romaeuropa Festival in October 2025. In 2026, she is an Aerowaves #Twenty26 Artist.
Her works have been presented in several national and international contexts and festivals, including Vetrina della Giovane Danza d’Autore, B.Motion/Operaestate, Romaeuropa, Bolzano Danza, Contemporanea, MILANoLTRE.
