Giorgiomaria Cornelio was born in Macerata in 1997. He is a poet, director, and curator of the project Edizioni volatili, and a member of the editorial staff of Nazione Indiana. Through his work, he has taken part in festivals and venues such as the Venice Biennale, the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, Santarcangelo Festival, Centrale Fies, FestivalLetteratura Mantova, Science Gallery Dublin, and Demanio Marittimo KM-278.
Together with Lucamatteo Rossi, he co-directed the Trilogy of the Wayfarers (2016–2020). He collaborates with L’indiscreto, Doppiozero, Antinomie, Il Tascabile Treccani, Il Manifesto, Not, The Italian Review, and Kobo. He has published, among other works, La consegna delle braci (Luca Sossella Editore, Fondazione Primoli Prize), La specie storta (Tlon Edizioni, Montano Prize, Gozzano Prize), the essay Fossili di rivolta. Immaginazione e rinascita, and L’ufficio delle tenebre (Tlon Edizioni).
He took part in the project Civitonia (NERO Editions). Moira Egan’s translation of a selection of his poems won the Raiziss/De Palchi Fellowship from the Academy of American Poets.
As a performer, he has collaborated, among others, with Franko B, Teatro Valdoca, Roberto Paci Dalò, Cristina Rizzo, Fabio Condemi, and Gaetano Palermo. He was a finalist at the Biennale College Teatro with the work Debutto di un grido, together with Danilo Maglio, and winner of FONDO 2024 (Santarcangelo Festival), for which he conceived, under the name Grandi Magazzini Criminali, the work Ogni creatura è un popolo, later published as a catalogue by Nero Editions. He is the artistic director of the festival I fumi della fornace.

His work has attracted attention from, among others, La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Left, Il Sole 24 Ore, Vogue, Il Fatto Quotidiano, Teatro e Critica, Rai Radio 3, Rai 3, and Radio 24.
