Matteo Principi
Actor, dancer, author.
I graduated from the Scuola del Teatro Stabile delle Marche, then from the Scuola del Piccolo Teatro in Milan. For years I worked as a performer with C. Rifici, S. Antinori, L. Loris, L. Colavero, among others, and in national audiovisual productions.
I attended Claudia Castellucci’s Scuola Cònia and the II passo course curated by Romeo Castellucci. I studied contemporary dance and physical theatre in Italy and Europe. I attended the Da.re. Dance Research advanced course, directed by Adriana Borriello, and the Flöz Akademie. I worked as a performer and co-creator for M. Lucenti, W. Wandekeybus, A. M. Romano, and with MALTE and Pallaksch, directed by G. Lilliù, with whom I developed a strong artistic bond based on the irreverent and experimental dismantling of theatrical languages.
Since 2022, I have been involved in community work and physical and theatrical education. I am a Hatha Yoga teacher, trained by Francesca Proia, and a Mental Coach, trained by Roberto Ferrario.
‘What does it mean to be present? It means, I guess, being the sensory witness to what you experience, moment by moment, as you live. On stage, this presence requires two additional qualities. To also be authors and actors of previously codified actions. My research consists of refining the cooperation between these three roles, both on stage and in teaching: being the author, actor and sensory witness of my own happening, forgetting myself.’
In 2023, I founded Looking for a nest.
