Teatro dei Gordi is an independent theater company funded by a group of artists graduated from the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Arts in Milan. Since 2010 the Gordi have met and worked together to create theatrical performances, share training experiences and implement cultural projects. They feed on encounters and collaborations and in their artistic proposals Gordi defend a collective working process for theatrical creation. With the project T.R.E. (2015) the Gordi won the Funder35 tender of the Cariplo Foundation, strengthening their organizational structure. In 2015, with the birth
of the first show, Sulla morte senza esagerare (On death without exaggeration), the company centers its research on gesture, on a physical theater that aims to overcome linguistic barriers with the audience. In 2017 Andrée Ruth Shammah, artistic director and manager of Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, offers to co-produce and support the work of the Company; this collaboration is still alive and artistically profitable. In 2019 the Company receives the Hystrio-Iceberg Award which mentions the Teatro dei Gordi as one of the most interesting groups on the Italian theater scene. In 2020 the Gordi debut with their show Pandora at the Venice Biennale Theater Festival and in the same year they receive the ANCT Award – National Theater Critics Award. In 2022 the Company starts a new research and creation process, promoted by Artisti Associati in Gorizia, which will lead them to present a creation inside the program of Go!2025 – Nova Goriza and Gorizia European Capitals of Culture. In May 2023, Gordi’s show Sulla morte senza esagerare will be hosted at the Coronet
Theater in London.
